The environment is open, coworking, with dedicated zones for each business. There is a general coworking/meeting area available on a daily basis. StartUptown is a member of CoworkingVisa, the international organization that allows active members of one space, when traveling, to use another coworking space, gratis.
StartUptown plugs you into the Pittsburgh Central Keystone Innovation Zone, to take advantage of all zone benefits from grants, to PA tax credits, and paid internships.
StartUptown will expand its Uptown footprint over the next 6-12 months and provide other style working environments as the campus evolves.
There is chocolate standard poodle on site named Jersey-Klee. You won’t want to miss her — she’ll make you wonder about your own place in the animal kingdom. She brings out the best in all of us with enthusiasm and generosity of spirit.
The environment is non-smoking and strong perfumes and colognes are discouraged for the comfort of all residents.
Leases
All lease agreements are month-to-month and negotiable — generally determined by square feet and number of employees.
Lease agreement includes all utilities, high speed internet access, and shared amenities like kitchen, meeting areas, and parking on site on a floating basis.
Monthly leases provide 24-hour access, 7 days a week. CoworkingVisa visitors have access from 9:00AM to 6:00PM. Presently 9 companies and organizations reside at 1936 Fifth Avenue.

Urban Innovation21 is a public-private partnership that boosts regional economic development through 21st century innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
UI21 was organized to increase the breadth of work of the Pittsburgh Central Keystone Innovation Zone (PCKIZ).
The PCKIZ helps to support startups in the Hill/Uptown communities through grant-making, access to PA tax-credits, paid internships, and other incentives. The organization evolved from a PA state program that Duquesne University helped bring to the community in 2007.
